Episodic Media - A Design and Print Company
~This site was designed and constructed using Joomla CMS soley by Bradley Wicks~
In 2011, due to requirements to become a print vehicle for my clients in the American Sports Photographer's website, I created a new design company called Episodic Media. The name had been garnered from a unused domain name I had in our queue. Although originally concocted for breaks in printing costs, Episodic Media quickly became a growing business interest in its own right.
From my experience with Photoshop and Illustrator in both photography and television production I started to create one of a kind logos and print collateral for not only my companies but for clients as well. While at the Colorado Institute of Art I had taken a number of design classes and although not an artists by any means, had the knack for creating unique and effective marketing pieces. My experience as in marketing and advertising gave me an edge in the design while my growing experience as a print broker using software like InDesign gave me the ability to build a wide variety of printed pieces ranging from simple business card and brochure designs to full blown Retail and College Catalogs.
Additionally, in association with American Sports Photographers I created a number of easy-to-use templates for member photographers to help sell product and increase their per event revenues. Each template was a free download and included almost endless combinations of colors, textures and text options. In 2011, over one third of my business revenue was generated by these desgn and printing endeavors.

Since 2010, and the creation of the reality television series SHOOT! I had been creating websites for myself and a small number of clients. Episodic Media became a home base for these endeavors as well as my activities as a print broker.
The SHOOT! Site was accepted in Best of Joomla in their Television Show Design category, and I was making great strides in creating client sites. As I continued to design new Joomla sites, it became apparent that I lacked knowledge in Search Engine Optimization. I felt I owed it to my clients as well as myself to learn more about SEO, so I started a campaign to learn as much as I could. It was during this continued education that I learned just how viable video were in search results. When created and placed in a site correctly, a video made a significant difference in Google search result pages. Armed with this new information, I quickly moved to change the way I was marketing Charmed Life Productions. The result was a "new" Denver Video Company.

In 2011, a change in the curriculum at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting called for the addition of website design and use of CMS to support students in building demo websites, to help them land jobs in the broadcast industry. After a misguided attempt to teach Drupal as a CMS option, I suggested that we use Wordpress to teach students the necessary skills to create and maintain their own site. I was tasked by the Campus Director to come up with a matrix and rubric for the design of the course. Using the already accredited and accepted matrix I design a new approach using Wordpress as the CMS and integrated design training using Photoshop into my course. My course is now the standard at the school and is being taught by a number of instructors.
